Description

The KOH Impregnated Carbon is a 4 mm, pelletized carbon made from select grades of high quality coal, activated under rigid process control conditions to yield a strong, dense, very active product designed for vapor phase odor control application. This product is impregnated with potassium hydroxide that gives it a very good capacity for H2S removal while still having good absorption properties for organic odors. As with all caustically impregnated carbons, it is important to maintain airflow through the system at all times during absorption.

Specifications

Butane Number 25.5 min.
Hardness Number, wt% 95% min.
Mean Particle Diameter (MPD) 4 mm, pellets
Apparent Density (g/ml) 0.55 to 0.63
Moisture, wt% as packed 15% max.
Typical H2S Capacity 0.15 g/cc

Pressure Drop

Since the product is dedusted, clean and is of uniform size, the pressure drop is low; at 50 ft./min., the pressure drop is 0.9"/ft. and at 70 FPM it is 1.4"/ft.

CAUTION: WET ACTIVATED CARBON DEPLETES OXYGEN FROM AIR.

Whenever workers enter a vessel containing carbon, all precautions must be taken since dangerously low levels of oxygen may be encountered. Atmosphere sampling and work procedures for potentially low oxygen areas should be followed.
