KI IMPREGNATED CARBON

DESCRIPTION

The KI Impregnated Carbon is a 4 mm, pelletized carbon made from select grades of high quality coal, activated under rigid process control conditions to yield a strong, dense, very active product designed for vapor phase odor control application.  This product is impregnated, double screened and dedusted in process and prior to packaging to assure a clean, hard, dust free product having a long service life. Its best performance is reached when some oxygen and water is present in the vapor.

SPECIFICATIONS

KI Content (wt.%)                                                    2
Carbon Tetrachloride Activity (wt. %)                       60 min.
Hardness Number                                                     99 min.
Mean Particle Diameter (MPD)                                   4 mm, pellets
Apparent Density (g/ml)                                            0.470 to 0.510
Total Surface Area (N2 -- BET method)                       1050 to 1150 m2/gm
Ignition Temperature (ASTM)                                     450◦C
Typical H2S Capacity                                                 0.14 g/cc

PRESSURE DROP

Since the product is dedusted, clean and is of uniform size, the pressure drop is low; at 50 ft./min., the pressure drop is 0.9"/ft. and at 70 FPM it is 1.4"/ft.

CAUTION: WET ACTIVATED CARBON DEPLETES OXYGEN FROM AIR.

Whenever workers enter a vessel containing carbon, all precautions must be taken since dangerously low levels of oxygen may be encountered.  Atmosphere sampling and work procedures for potentially low oxygen areas should be followed.
