ODORDIGEST™ TOWER SYSTEM
A HIGHLY EFFECTIVE BIOLOGICAL SCRUBBER |
Bay Products OdorDigest BioTower (ODT) is a line of biotrickling or biological scrubber systems capable of primarily removing hydrogen sulfide from a variety of sources. The ODT model line offers many advantages over the traditional odor control technologies such as chemical wet scrubbers or carbon adsorption systems. They are primarily used for medium to high flow applications such as headworks, covered basins, or main plant operations. It consists of an FRP (HDPE for smaller diameters) tower of a variety of sizes with a variety of different medias placed on a media support system of a polypropylene screen with an overhead spray system. The ODT offers the following benefits:
- Lowest operational costs
- Simple operation
- Can utilize a wide variety of media and mixtures of media for specific treatment needs
- Highly effective in treating a wide variety of odorous compounds
- Smiple and easy to install
|
SERVICEABILITY
The system is serviced through manways that access the media, demister pads, spray nozzles, and support structures. Media should be checked from time to time for plugging and fouling that causes channeling which results in poor performance. Clear manways can be incorporated into the system to allow visual inspection of the media. All other controls, pumps, gauges and valves are located externally for easy servicing.
MEDIA
- The unique feature of the ODT is that it incorporates a special priority media that has a superior surface area while maintaining rigidity that prevents compaction that leads to shorting circuiting and poor performance. The media structure is a reticulated foam placed in sections to form a packed bed section within the scrubber tower. This ensure maximum contact time with the odorous air stream. The media is impregnated with compounds that ensure a minimum of 10 years media life.

PROCESS DESCRIPTION
Air containing odorous compounds enters the bottom of the vessel and travels concurrent to the flow of the water droplets from the overhead spray nozzles. The odorous compounds are consumed as the air contacts the media, which contains the biological activity. Water is recycled from the bottom sump and make up water is added as the pH or the sump level gets too low. The clean treated air then passes through a demister pad to remove entrained water droplets and discharged out the top. Heat is added, if required, through an in-line heater. A carbon system is provided to polish any remaining non-biological treated compounds. |
